Gyokuro leaves are a deep rich green, tightly packed closed. They smell FANTASTIC (like a green tea fantasy)

Color of Gyokuro after seeped. The grains on the bottom on normal. Color is light green with yellow undertones.

Seep time: 45sec - 1minute
<do not over seep, it will turn bitter!>

Taste: Think grass slowly seeped into hot water, but in the most enduring way possible. This tea is LIGHT, calming and makes you image yourself sitting in a tree. As mentioned, this is a veerryy grass-leafy tasting tea, so it may not be for the average “green tea tea bag” people ( you know who you are you Lipton drinkers!)

Easy Sweet Potato Kale Soup
vegan, makes 6-8 cups

1 extra large sweet potato, baked/skin removed (or two medium potatoes)
4 cups vegetable broth
1/2 cup sweet onion
2 cups kale, chopped
1/2 tsp chipotle spice (or another favorite her or spice to season)
salt/pepper to taste
1/4 – 1/2 cup nutritional yeast (optional)
1-3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (optional)

Directions:

1. Bake your sweet potato and remove skin.
2. Add the potato and all ingredients (except the kale) to a high speed blender or food processor – puree until smooth.
3. Transfer to soup pot. Add kale and allow the hot soup to wilt the kale leaves. The kale will also help to thicken the soup. Simmer until ready to serve. Note: You could also use an immersion blender to puree ingredients.

Serve with some toast or crusty bread. I like to slather mine with a bit of Vegenaise vegan mayo.

Green Smoothie - 1 cup baby spinach, 1 cup kale, 1 pear, 1 ½ cup of orange juice, and 1 frozen banana.

Chocolate Peanut Butter – 2 TBL unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 TBL peanut butter, ½ banana, 1 cup almond milk, ice.

Mango Ginger — 2 cups frozen Mango, 1 cup frozen raspberries, 1 banana, ¼ cup chopped ginger, squeeze of lime, yogurt.

Strawberry Date — 1 date, 1 ½ cup frozen strawberries, 1 cup almond milk. Optional: 1 scoop protein powder or 1 TBL of flaxseed oil.

Dead soldier’s friend tells why a funeral dress was the only way to honour him. The Observer.

“Kev was like my brother – we would have done anything for each other.
We said that whoever died first, the other one had to wear a pink dress with green spots to the funeral – and we shook on it. It was mainly his idea and the more I think about it, I’m sure Kevin knew something was going to happen.
I looked for the exact dress but couldn’t find one anywhere.
I eventually picked up the green one in Primark and bought the pink pop socks to make it look even sillier. It’s what Kev would have wanted.
Kev told his whole family about the pact, so I couldn’t back out. I had a word with him at the graveside and asked if he liked the color – I’m sure I could hear laughter coming out of the ground.
Kev was a true hero and someone I’m proud to call my best mate.”
